Join author and film historian John Trafton at the Hilbert Museum of California Art for an evening celebrating the release of his new book, Los Angeles and Film: A Cultural History of 20th Century Hollywood (Bloomsbury, 2026).
Through a reading and conversation, Trafton will explore the intertwined histories of Los Angeles and the movies—from Hollywood’s emergence as a filmmaking capital to the ways cinema has continually imagined, transformed, and mythologized the city. The evening will conclude with audience Q&A and a book signing.
